I am delighted that the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships will return to Tábor in 2024 for the fourth time after 2001, 2010 and 2015.

It will have been nine years since we last awarded the rainbow jerseys to our cyclo-cross UCI World Champions in this picturesque town, but the world's top athletes are regular visitors for rounds of the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup.

Indeed, Tábor is one of our traditional cyclo-cross destinations, and seasons without a stopover in this historic town are very rare. Over the years, many of the discipline's greatest stars have tackled the rolling course that requires a great deal of physical strength and tactical acumen.

Although there are sometimes a few variations to the course, its characteristics remain the same and are greatly appreciated by the international field. I take this opportunity to thank the organising team, led by Petr Balogh, who never fail to stage a top-class event to the delight of the athletes and fans. My gratitude also goes to the race officials, local authorities, partners and volunteers, all of whom have a major part to play in the continued success of our UCI events in Tábor.

I could not go further without mentioning the fantastic support of the Czech Cycling Federation and its President Petr Marek. Their promotion of cycling across all disciplines is precious.

Two great names of cyclo-cross, Erwin Vervecken (BEL) and Hanka Kupfernagel (GER) won the first Elite UCI World titles awarded in Tábor, in 2001. The 2010 edition saw an unforgettable home win for Zdeněk Štybar as well as the 3rd cyclo-cross rainbow jersey for Dutch star Marianne Vos, who now has eight to her name!

The last battles for the UCI World titles in Tábor saw the Netherlands' Mathieu Van der Poel and France's Pauline Ferrand-Prévot crowned Elite UCI World Champions.

Who knows what 2024 has in store for us?
